SIMPLY INSPIRATION: Blush + Little White Dress Valentines Sale

All of our short sample dresses are marked down to $250! That includes Raquel, by Faith Thornburg that retails for $2100. She is a short lace strapless gown, with english netting overlay. So you can wear it long, or wear it without the overlay for a cute short option! Faith's editorial was shot at Brockington Hall, so it was a perfect fit to create an inspiration board based on the soft pinks and regal feel of this gorgeous mansion!

STYLED SHOOT: Oddities

We are SO SO EXCITED to finally share this shoot with everyone! We shot this back in January, and it was epic, and was even featured on Halloween on Ruffled!! We called in one of our favorite Savannah photographers Rach Lea to shoot it, and we knew our friend Rachel would be perfect, with her awesome tattoo's and overall bad-ass-ness. (Best part is that she is now engaged, and got the most amazing Rebecca Schoneveld gown from us!!) She wore an asymetrical gown by Faith Thornburg, with a funky tulle and fishnet veil by Twigs and Honey. Milan Day Spa did her faux hawk, and Lindsey Wirht did her dramatic makeup. 

The shoot took place at an old dairy farm, which has an almost haunted feel to it. Savannah is known for being a haunted city so it fit really well but in a completely different way than vendors normally portray Savannah. For an added treat, our guy model brought his 2 pets: a boa constrictor and a pitbull, which were perfect touches for the theme, except for when the boa constrictor decided to slither on the table...  If you think the shoot is spooky, wait until you see the incredible video by CINEMoBIUS!

SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {Ruffled} Double the Ruffle, Double the Fun --> Bohemian Botany + Happy Halloween!

Ruffled is one of my favorite of the favorites wedding blogs and so we are so excited that we were featured twice this week on this blog with 2 of our favorite shoots!!! The first was our Bohemian Botanical styled shoot with Izzy Hudgins at Coastal Botanical Bamboo Gardens. For this shoot we randomly one day decided Botany + Tree huggers. And then we went from there incorporating hundreds of vintage antique botany illustrations with a science hipster theme. We DIYed a living Palette wall for a tutorial featured here. For the centerpiece we wanted to do something hanging and so we had Grace Graffiti make us a custom test tube chandelier. Colonial House of Flowers went above and beyond on styling the florals for this shoot. When we saw the final outcome we were blown away literally with the massive size of the chandelier with the hanging moss and greenery. It was just wow. Leslie Miller of Leslie Miller Design was our bride model who also is an amazing bead artist who provided the groom's bow tie, bridal sash and necklace. For the shoot she rocked 2 looks: the first an Alvina Valenta gown and the second a Rebecca Schoneveld blue top with a high-low Love Found True skirt. Last but not least we madeover our Ikea table into a chalkboard and also made a ceremony backdrop as a chalkboard. This was a fun shoot. So so fun. Thank you for the feature Ashley!!!!!

The second shoot featured was our Oddities + Skulls styled shoot with Rach Lea at the Old Dairy Farm, which is the perfect shoot to celebrate the Halloween holiday. We started with my best friend, Rachel, who wanted to model for us. We were inspired by her tattoos to do something weird, funky and animal related. We incorporated taxidermy props from Graveface Records & Curiosities and funky mugs, flatware and other table props from The Paris Market for a darker look. For the flowers we used Savannah moss and dark weird floral elements. Rachel was given a faux hawk by Milan Day Spa and dark makeup by Lindsey Wirht and wore an asymmetrical dress from our designer, Faith Thornburg. The stationary and fox masks were by Shelby Bittinger. The best part about this shoot other than the boa constrictor and the pitbull, which were our guy model's pets is most definitely the spooky video by videographer CINEMoBIUS... head on over to Ruffled to check out the entire feature plus the spooky video... you may be frightened, consider this your warning.

Faith Thornburg. We kind of love Faith Thornburg. Not only is she the sweetest ever but she is extremely talented and is a SCAD alumni who names her dresses after Savannah streets and places. So today we are sharing our Bridal Lookbook 1.0 Part 2 featuring Faith and her dresses. These dresses are romantic, soft and whimsical and all handmade with only the finest of fabrics and materials. The craftmanship of a Faith Thornburg dress is immaculate. The best thing about working with Faith is she is all about some customization. For one of our brides getting married this fall she made a custom blue dress and for another she is altering and changing up her black wedding dress. THOUGHTS TUESDAY #7: Colors, Themes + Design

Today I am here to talk all about my tips on how to come up with colors, themes + the overall design and feeling of your wedding. Working with couples to come up with the perfect look for their wedding day is definitely my absolute favorite part about wedding planning because it allows us to get to be creative while also getting to really know a couple. That being said, it is not always the easiest of tasks for couples... I like to blame it mostly on Pinterest since that's where the majority of brides are going nowadays. But trust me, Pinterest is a mind suck and can really make things confusing and seriously overwhelming. There are so many beautiful things on Pinterest don't get me wrong. But your wedding shouldn't just be beautiful, it should be meaningful and fit you as a couple. So here are my 3 top tips on how to come up with the color palette, themes + design that is perfect for you and your fiance.

1. Start with the staples: venue first then dress. Once you find that venue I suggest finding your dress. And no not just because we sell dresses.. but because the dress sets the whole mood and the whole tone of your wedding. So you pick a venue that is somewhat of a blank slate whether because its simply a large room with neutral walls or maybe exposed brick, but regardless of that it is a room that does not dictate the style and can really be done up in a multitude of different ways. The possibilities may be endless in this said space. Botany inspired forest theme wedding? Sure. Classic and timeless affair with all white florals and romantic candlelight? Sure. Rocker chic with bold black and white patterns? Sure. Vintage rustic chic with lace and burlap? Sure. See where I'm going with this? Some venues can be overwhelming with how many options and possibilities they are if its a space that does not set the mood on its own. Sooo how is that going to help you when trying to figure out your colors, themes + design? It probably won't to be honest. Well it might... and you might start going in one direction, prior to finding your dress, but then what if you get your dress and then you start to think well shoot this is not going to work. It has happened before with our clients trust me. So my advice is find your venue then find your dress. 2 key starting points.

2. Next, look in your closet (and your fiance's of course, let's not forget about them.) What colors are you seeing? Themes? Patterns? Styles? So for me for example if you look in my closet you are going to see lots of neutrals, black, gray, pale blush and blue, more neutrals and then lots of geometric, aztec and southwestern patterns. If you look in Adrienna's closet you are going to see all floral prints, girly colors, lots of pink. So say Adrienna and I were getting married... color palette of neutrals, black, gray, blush, bold pink and other shades of pinks with a conglomeration of geometric and floral patterns. Sound familiar? Our store maybe? Not feeling inspired by your closet? Then look around your home and try to pick out colors you are drawn to as well as patterns or textures. This may not work for everyone of course, but I think it definitely is a good place to start looking for themes that really truly fit you as a couple.

3. Finalize your colors, themes + overall design and feeling of your wedding and then stop looking. Once you have put together your perfect look and you feel really good about it then its time to just stop looking. Get off Pinterest if you have to unless you are someone who can look at Pinterest and see pretty things that don't fit with your theme and realize they are just that but that they do not fit with what you want for you and your fiance and move on. Think of it this way... when you found your fiance and said yes did you keep looking for someone else? I sure as hell hope not. So treat your wedding theme the same way. Pick it out with your fiance and stick with it because it fits you as a couple not because its pretty but because it is you and your fiance together and its perfect in every way.

SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {A Lowcountry Wed} Southern Belles

You guys!!! We were up on A Lowcountry Wedding yesterday with our Southern Belles styled shoot!!! This was such a fun shoot to style and design mostly because it was so different from anything we had ever done and very different from our normal aesthetic of lets-pick-out-all-the-weird-stuff-and-throw-it-together. This shoot was different. This shoot was Southern, Southern, with a little more Southern set on the cutest little farm and wedding venue, Woodlawn Plantation. Rach Lea originally contacted us for this shoot and we were so excited to do something a little more ordinary yet a little more not our normal look. We had 3 gorgeous models, Alison Epps who you may know from Alison Epps Photography; Sarah Tollerson who if you don't know well you should know because she's an awesome singer who plays live music around town all the time; and Jennifer Lenn who is just gorgeous!! When the amazingly talented Laura Fulmer asked to borrow a dress, we of course said YES! We love her here at Ivory and Beau, and we are SO so so so excited to show images of her recent shoot! Real life couple Joy + Max are perfect for this vintage shoot, complete with a VW Beetle + floral crown. Joy looks amazing in her two dresses; the long one is Cascade by Sarah Seven, and the mini lace one is Raquel by Faith Thornburg (both of which we have in our shop to try on!)
