SIMPLY INSPIRATION: 4th of July

We love a wedding with the color palate of AMERICA! Red White + Blue! As we celebrate our nations holiday (and a day off!) we take time to look at some weddings that mix the perfect amount of patriotic flair with style. You can either use pops of red white and blue (like in your cake or stationary), or really make it stand out with gingham and flags. Whichever you chose, it is sure to make a statement!

REAL BRIDE: Courtney + John

We think your wedding dress should not just be gorgeous, but comfortable. That is why we love gowns by Lena Medoyeff! All of her gowns are handmade in Portland, Oregon, and are make of 100% silk and fair trade lace. Courtney came in wanting a soft and comfortable gown, and we knew her and Lena would be a perfect match. She chose one with a v neck front, low v back, and flutter sleeves. It fit her perfectly, we it is so lightweight! And normally we talk just about the wedding dress.... but this time the grooms attire was top notch! We are IN LOVE with his burgundy suit, and honestly, I want my boyfriend Woody to get one!! Courtney + John's wedding was small and intimate, and the reception was held in the wine cellar at The Mansion on Forsyth. Thank you Kati Rosado for these gorgeous pictures!

WEDDING TRENDS: Lawn Games

One of the funnest trends we have seen are lawn games. This is such a fun way to get guests together, and let them have some fun during cocktail hour and the reception! Our couple this weekend, Meagan + Brenden had cornhole boards, and they were played all night. Guests loved it! There are so many games you can have for an outdoor wedding, like badminton, ring toss, and hoola-hoops! You can also play games inside, like giant Jenga, checkers, and cards. Having games at your wedding are sure to be a hit with guests, both young and old.

THOUGHTS TUESDAY: Cactus + Daughters of Simone

We get a lot of brides who come in looking for a dress to go with their out door wedding, and a lot are wanting to incorporate cactus and succulents!! Today we are going to look at a variety of ways you can add cactus into your wedding, from DIY projects to cake toppers!! Which would you chose?

1. DIY: One way to add some cactus elements is with DIY decor! We love these DIY cactus Piñata's from Oh Happy Day! They are super easy to make, and could easily be hung as a ceremony backdrop, or sitting on the gift table. 

2. Your Dress: If you are looking for a bohemian feel gown to go with your laid back outdoor wedding, one of our favorite choices is Fin by Daughters of Simone. She has eyelash lace, a high neckline, and a stunning low back. She shows the perfect amount of skin, and hugs the body beautifully. We love her scallop detail around the back and shoulders! 

3. Table Details: We love have pieces of cactus as part of your table details! One idea is to have them as silverware holders. You can also have them apart of your centerpiece flowers, or as escort cards.

4. The Cake: This edible cake topper by Ruze Cake House is perfection! This is our favorite cactus detail, especially on a clean and simple cake. It really makes the handmade piece stick out!

5. Tequila: Blue Agave (what tequila comes from) might technically be a succulent, but we think it can pass for a cactus. If you have a rowdy crowd, why not have a tequila bar? You might have to limit the amount of tequila each guests have (since we know that can lead to bad things!) but it would be such a fun way to add this cactus-esque plant in your wedding!!

6. Bouquet:  If you are a cactus and succulent lover, adding it to your bouquet is a perfect way to show it. You can have these in any color bouquet, from the one above with pops of red, to an all green bouquet, or even an all white bouquet! Just make sure to get ones without thorns, you don't want it to catch on your gown, or even poke you!

WEDDING TRENDS: Late Night Snacks

Your guests have spent all nice grooving and dancing to music, having a blast! And your dinner was amazing and filling, but after working out so much, guests are getting hungry. So what do you do? You offer late night snacks! We have seen more and more brides add this to their night, and we love the idea. It's also a great incentive for guests to stick around; who doesn't like pizza and wings? There are so many options... grilled cheese, pb+j, chips and dip, cookies... so just pick what works with your theme the best! Thinking dessert? Leopold's, the local ice cream shop, has the cutest cart ever. You can have them come to your wedding and do ice cream sundaes and sandwiches. Trust us, this is a HUGE hit with guests! (P.S We did an awesome shoot at The Brice with Apt B Photography using the cart, stay tuned for the shoot, it's being featured on Wedding Chicks soon!) Or maybe you are thinking more comfort food? Have a biscuit and jam bar! Just make sure to let guests know, so they leave room for food. You can also have to-go boxes for guests who are not ready to eat just yet, but will want it when they get back to the hotel.

DESIGNER FEATURE: Flora and Lane

When we first saw the gowns by Flora and Lane, we were in awe. They were so stunning, so romantic, so delicate.... so perfect! Flora and Lane are designed by 3 designers, who wanted to make gowns that were hand made and small scale production. They are a mix of feminine and soft silhouettes, for an etherial and bohemian bride. Not only are these gowns stunning, they are affordable! All of the gowns are under $1500, so perfect for a bride on a budget.

SIMPLY BORROWED: Jade and Matthew Take Pictures + Rebecca Schoneveld

As you saw earlier this week, one of our dresses was featured on Green Wedding Shoes! Gray Harper Event Maker + Jade and Matthew teamed up to do a shoot at The Florence, a new restaurant and venue here in Savannah. The ceremony take place up on the rooftop deck, with rehearsal dinner and reception in the restaurant below. They wanted to do a blue sea theme, and wanted a blue dress (which of course we have!) They borrowed our Mia-Elizabeth by Rebecca Schoneveld, and it fit perfectly! We love the hair by Wicked Lulu and makeup by Dollface by Jules, especially the touch of pink lipstick and blush. I wish they could do my hair and makeup every day. The paper goods by Lavender & Honey are pretty amazing, and we especially love the sea glass calligraphy by Low Country Paper Co. WEDDING TRENDS: Copper

We know metallics are in for weddings, but it's not just about gold and silver anymore. Copper is making a huge comeback! Copper is versatile, and can give two looks: the vintage and industrial feel which is a great alternative for a daring bride, and the soft feminine feel. Today we show you both ways it can be done: edgy and feminine!

First up: Edgy. If you are looking for a more urban feel, mix copper with dark colors like browns, emeralds and gray. You can use copper trays to add a touch of vintage (even better if they have a nice patina!). You can use trays to display a lot of things, like invitations, cookies, and escort cards. Add a touch of copper to the inside of your invitations to give guests a sneak peak of what is to come. We love adding copper to your cake, and if you are looking for something more non-traditional, have it be a naked cake with a copper icing drizzle.

For Feminine: Copper doesn't have to just feel worn and rustic. If you are looking to add it to your cake, but want to keep it classy, add stripes or flowers to soften the look. Copper mugs are perfect for Moscow Mules (our friend Sarah had copper mugs at her wedding, they were awesome!) Mix the copper with light colors, like white, green and blush for a light and airy feeling.

THOUGHTS TUESDAY: Neon Wedding + Ash and Light

Want a bold look for your wedding? Add a pop of neon! It's such a fun way to add some color, and be a little daring! Now neon can be overwhelming so here are a few tips:

1. Limit your number of bridesmaids. If you have more then 4 or so bridesmaids, it's going to be an overwhelming amount of neon next to you, and super distracting. These gowns by Ash + Light are the perfect neon dresses, not too bright, and definitely re-wearable! We will have these gowns, plus an awesome styling session, May 3rd. Get tickets to it here!

2. Are you loving neon, but maybe not for bridesmaids? How about a pop of color in your signature drinks! You can easily do a hot pink drink with cranberry and oranges!

3. Add neon accents in your decor! You can add a pop of color in your flowers, on your cake, or even hanging from the ceiling! This way you can pick and choose what colors you have and where you have them. One of our favorite ideas are these succulents with hot pink rocks! You can have these as escort cards, or favors!

WEDDING TRENDS: Big Balloons

Balloons are becoming a huge trend in weddings! But not the small, boring ones you are thinking of. BIG ones! Big balloons turn them from children's toys and birthday bashes to a fun and whimsical feel! You can add large helium balloons in so many ways. You can have them as part of your engagement session (like this one from Green Wedding Shoes) and mix lots of colors together!! Another option is having your flower girls or bridesmaids carry them instead of bouquets. This way you save on flowers, and save money! Another is using lots of various sized balloons as part of a ceremony arch. This is a great DIY, and is easy to make. So tell us, how would you use balloons on your wedding day?!

SIMPLY INSPIRATION: Chartreuse + Ash and Light

I'll be the first to admit, I don't really like the color Chartreuse. It's definitely not a color for my skin tone, but after seeing this Ash + Light gown I realized "hey, it's not such a bad color after all!" So I pushed myself to make a board based off of this unique green. It's a bold color, so I don't recommend using it everywhere, but pops here and there (especially with gray and purple) can really make a statement! It's important to step out of our comfort zone sometimes, and to play with colors!

All April long we have gowns by Made by Anatomy! These gowns are super fashion forward and modern, for the contemporary bride looking for something different. They give a modern twist to classic silhouettes and fabrics. Plus she has bridal separates, and we LOVE bridal separates! We love the cool industrial vibe of their editorial, so we wanted to make a mood board inspired by cool grays and pops of green. GOWNS WE LOVE: Rebecca Schoneveld Rosaline

Oh Rosaline. From the first time we saw her at our first Bridal Market we fell in love. Everything about her is perfect. From her soft lace appliques, button detail down the back, and the most stunning back on a dress we have ever seen. We LOVE the sheer lace detail, and our brides do too! She is the perfect southern lady, and works both in a church or outside by large oak trees.

STYLED SHOOT: A Lowcounty Wedding Bridal Editorial

We love being able to collaborate with blogs and magazines to create amazing shoots! Erin from A Lowcountry Wedding emailed us looking for us to style a bridal editorial for winter/spring edition of her magazine.  She wanted an effortless and luxurious feel, with a touch of romance. Lots of flowing fabrics and lots of flowers. We teamed up with Rach Lea Photography + Belfair Plantation to hold the shoot, and had vintage rentals by Savannah Vintage Rentals. The amazing Colonial House of Flowers made some amazing bouquet's and flower crowns, which were perfect! We provided gowns from our designers Alvina Valenta, Blush by Hayley Paige + Sarah Seven.

This bridal editorial, along with our styled shoot, was featured in the winter/spring edition of A Lowcounty Wedding Magazine, available now! Tomorrow we will post the images from the styled shoot portion, and trust us, they are amazing!

SIMPLY INSPIRATION: Sarah Seven Cascade + Daisies

It's SPRING, and we couldn't be more excited!! We love the fresh air, green grass, and blooming flowers. And one of our favorite spring dresses is Cascade by Sarah Seven! This gown is a creamy ivory, with gold cascading lace and the classic sweet-heart corset Sarah Seven is known for. We fell in love with this wedding from Ruffled, and wanted to pair it with Navy (to go with the grooms amazing suit) and daisies (because what better spring flower then daisies!) We were swooning over this shoot by Mint Photography we saw on Once Wed, and loved the mix of berry colors for a spring wedding. SIMPLY INSPIRATION: Turquoise Lace + Blush by Hayley Paige

With all of the nice weather we have had, we are thinking spring! And what better way to embrace spring then with a mood-board inspired by pops of turquoise + lace! We love the cotton lace of this classic gown by Blush by Hayley Paige. It features a champagne lining, gorgeous train, and fitted bodice. It's the perfect gown for a spring or summer wedding, and is both rustic and romantic! So kick of your heels and enjoy!

REAL BRIDE: Megan + David

One of our favorite things are when a bride trusts us to do more then just their dress for their wedding. Megan was looking for a seamstress to alter her mothers gown for her wedding day, and chose us! Once she started getting it altered, she realized she needed a reception gown. So we showed her Josette, a fabulous tulle one by Love Found True and she loved it! Plus she needed her sash and birdcage, and we were able to help with that too. She got a sparkly sash by Jaclyn Jordan, and a custom birdcage from our local designer, Adele Amelia. We thought we had done it all, but then she was looking for a florist, and we knew we could help! We met with her, and decided on gorgeous bouquets made of spider mums, roses, and cotton. Our favorite part were her monogramed handkerchiefs for each of the bridesmaids bouquet. It was such a great touch for each of her girls! Sarah Mesa Photography captured her wedding perfectly, it was such a gorgeous day! For more on her wedding, check out her feature on Style My Bridal.
