SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {Ruffled} Double the Ruffle, Double the Fun --> Bohemian Botany + Happy Halloween!

Ruffled is one of my favorite of the favorites wedding blogs and so we are so excited that we were featured twice this week on this blog with 2 of our favorite shoots!!! The first was our Bohemian Botanical styled shoot with Izzy Hudgins at Coastal Botanical Bamboo Gardens. For this shoot we randomly one day decided Botany + Tree huggers. And then we went from there incorporating hundreds of vintage antique botany illustrations with a science hipster theme. We DIYed a living Palette wall for a tutorial featured here. For the centerpiece we wanted to do something hanging and so we had Grace Graffiti make us a custom test tube chandelier. Colonial House of Flowers went above and beyond on styling the florals for this shoot. When we saw the final outcome we were blown away literally with the massive size of the chandelier with the hanging moss and greenery. It was just wow. Leslie Miller of Leslie Miller Design was our bride model who also is an amazing bead artist who provided the groom's bow tie, bridal sash and necklace. For the shoot she rocked 2 looks: the first an Alvina Valenta gown and the second a Rebecca Schoneveld blue top with a high-low Love Found True skirt. Last but not least we madeover our Ikea table into a chalkboard and also made a ceremony backdrop as a chalkboard. This was a fun shoot. So so fun. Thank you for the feature Ashley!!!!!

The second shoot featured was our Oddities + Skulls styled shoot with Rach Lea at the Old Dairy Farm, which is the perfect shoot to celebrate the Halloween holiday. We started with my best friend, Rachel, who wanted to model for us. We were inspired by her tattoos to do something weird, funky and animal related. We incorporated taxidermy props from Graveface Records & Curiosities and funky mugs, flatware and other table props from The Paris Market for a darker look. For the flowers we used Savannah moss and dark weird floral elements. Rachel was given a faux hawk by Milan Day Spa and dark makeup by Lindsey Wirht and wore an asymmetrical dress from our designer, Faith Thornburg. The stationary and fox masks were by Shelby Bittinger. The best part about this shoot other than the boa constrictor and the pitbull, which were our guy model's pets is most definitely the spooky video by videographer CINEMoBIUS... head on over to Ruffled to check out the entire feature plus the spooky video... you may be frightened, consider this your warning.

SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {Ruffled} The NotWedding Savannah

So excited to see The NotWedding Savannah up on Ruffled today!!! It was a very interesting experience being involved in this alternative bridal show. Unlike other shows this event is like a faux wedding with a ceremony where there is a real couple renewing their vows, then a dinner party and even dancing. For this bridal show we designed the ceremony backdrop, provided gowns + designed two reception tables for the event. It was a lot of fun being involved and a lot of work but so worth it!! We first off were given a mood board to inspire us and let me tell you that was probably the biggest challenge for both Adrienna + I. The mood board was very preppy + southern... two things that neither of us are really at all... But we were up for the challenge. 

We handpainted canvases with a floral pattern in the colors of the mood board. When we got done we both looked at them and thought... geez these are not us at all. Yes they may have fit the theme but we still wanted them to be us and to still show our style. So what did we do? We spray painted geometric shapes onto them and then we fell in love with them after that. If you visit Ivory + Beau they now are the artistic decoration behind our front desk. For the reception tables we borrowed linens from Ultra Pom (sequin linens + some organza linens.) For two of our tables we did a more southern preppy look with a large glitterized holder with flowing flowers. For the other two tables we went a whole different direction and did something that was really us. We made hanging centerpieces using Bells of Ireland over a paper triangle table runner with super super mini yellow painted bottles with mini flowers. Both tables we had bow napkins from Dot + Army. All in all we had a lot of fun getting creative with a theme that was not something we would have ever chosen to do on our own! 

For the dresses we had our bride rock a soft organza + lace Sarah Seven gown for the ceremony then our glitter sequin Sarah Seven dress for the reception! We love that the glitter sequin dress can also be ordered in short and actually just had a bride fall in love with it for her reception too!! 

Mackensey Alexander, Stephie Hicks (who photographed The Surprise Proposal Shoot) and Rach Lea were the 3 photographers for the event!! SIMPLY BRIDAL: Gray Gowns

I love colored wedding gowns. Kind of obsessed. From blue to pink to gold, they add such personality to the bride, and show off her unique spirit. But what about gray? It's cool, flattering on all skin tones, and is perfect for the winter. I mean what would look better in the snow then a cool silver and gray dress? (Especially if it has sparkle!) And when you look at the photos below, look at how well it photographs! With so many shades, from soft white to a deep charcoal. Divine! So when you're looking for a dress, that's not white or ivory, think gray!

SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {Savannah Weddings Magazine} 2 Weddings, 2 Styled Shoots + an Ad!

Eek! I am so excited today to finally share on here the recent wedding features Simply Savannah Events had in the Savannah Weddings Magazine Fall 2013 Issue that came out a few weeks ago!! I still sometimes have to pinch myself to make sure this is real life. I can honestly say I never imagined this would be my life at age 24. It is seriously a dream come true seeing my name in a magazine. I feel so blessed and lucky for the opportunities in life that have been given to me and am so grateful for everyone who has helped me get to this point and for all the vendors who have been mentors to me and mostly to Layla who took me on as a little assistant and taught me more than I could have ever imagined. ALSO... so excited because October 23rd, 2013 is Simply Savannah Event's one-year birthday of when I officially took over everything! I cannot even believe it has only been a year. It feels like so much has changed and so much has happened that there is just no way all this stuff has happened in just a year. It's not real life I've decided but that's okay because I like it just the way it is.

So anyway, in this Savannah Weddings issue we had two styled shoots + 2 weddings featured plus my first print ad! 

The first small feature was a picture of the faux wedding couple but real couple in real life kissing in front of the ceremony backdrop from the Valentine's Day styled shoot at the Jepson Center we did with French Knot Studios, photographed by Izzy Hudgins that was also published on Ruffled. This shoot was so fun and filled with tons of bright bold colors + funky styles. Definitely one of my favorites!! 

The second small feature was from a styled shoot at Brockington Hall designed by me! This shoot was one of my favorites because I got to do something really dramatic and bold. Thrive made that all black wedding cake and I styled the flowers, and those gorgeous calligraphy invitations are by Laura Lavender. For more from this shoot go here! The first wedding feature was Arlette + Juan's, 'True Colors." Their wedding took place at Old Fort Jackson and was photographed by Izzy Hudgins. This couple was one of the first couples I worked with after purchasing the business... I can still remember meeting with Layla and them at Sam Sneads for the first time and being so nervous and excited! They are truly some of the sweetest people I have ever met. I think what I loved most about working with them was how it was not all business. Our meetings always took place over dinner, either Sam Snead's or Mellow Mushroom, and they loved talking about topics other than wedding plans... especially if it had to do with their beloved dog, Papo, who is just about the cutest ever. Their wedding was so special because you could just tell how focused on love, family, and friends they are. I also loved how the little flower girls got along and played together so perfectly even though they spoke different languages. *Full wedding feature coming this week with more details so check back soon!!! 

The second wedding feature was Courtney & Harry's, "Hollywood Ending." This wedding took place prior to me taking over Simply Savannah Events. Layla worked with the Hollywood couple to plan all the little details--> [check out Layla's new wedding blog here!] I loved all the amazing details in slate blue and shades of gray. Urban Poppy did the spectacular flowers and Rachel Browne photographed every last detail. This wedding began the start of my love affair with the Roundhouse Railroad Museum, which is by far one of the coolest most unique wedding venues in Savannah. I mean how many people can say they got married in a historic blacksmith shop at a railroad museum?!

And last but not least... I am so so so excited at how my advertisement came out! Thanks to the amazing Izzy Hudgins for the photo from Katy and Drew's wedding! Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures! SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {RUFFLED BLOG} Mod Valentine's Day

Pretty pumped that we are featured on Ruffled today!!!!!!! I don't think it will ever get old the excitement of being featured on my favorite wedding blogs. They are what inspire me on a daily basis and so it is such an amazing feeling to be featured on them! Thanks Ashley for the opportunity!! This shoot was so much fun collaborating with Audrey of French Knot and Izzy of Izzy Hudgins Photography on this shoot. We came up with a fun color palette of really bright colors and went from there. I have been dying to make some sort of installation, and we had the idea to make geodesic shapes for a garland backdrop for the ceremony. Lots and lots of cutting, scoring, folding, and hot gluing but seriously worth it. And as much work as it was, I will be the first to tell you that if I have a wedding that wants something like this I am all for it because I love how it turned out! And thank you so much to In Any Event for lending us the pipe + drape to hang the installation! And even more thanks for letting me pet the little kittens out back. Although I still don't understand how my kitten's tail is about a foot longer than the kittens you guys have out there... I mean seriously, those kitten's tails are like 3 inches long?

Anyway moving on... Audrey of French Knot made so many details for this shoot, she really is incredible and so creative! She found the dress at the Humane Society and altered it, added some color, and really jazzed it up. She also made the boutonnieres, the table runner, dip dyed silverware, chargers, 'XO' dessert table board, bowties, groom's sweater vest, groomsmen's suspenders, bride's headpiece, and napkins! I worked on creating the dip-dyed glasses + I love love love them. They are in my office now being used as containers for pens, brushes, etc... 

The shoot took place super early in the morning at the Jepson Center. I mean really early. Us creative people don't normally wake up at the crack of dawn especially considering most weddings + events are in the afternoon to evening. Lots of coffee + donuts... and delicious cake from Ashlee of Tier Luxury Cakes and macarons from Maison de Macarons and candy hearts... made it so worth it. Thanks for sharing all the delicious goodies for our dessert scape! Also, thank you to all the strong manly men (my boyfriend, my friend Rachel's boyfriend + Audrey's husband) who lifted, pushed, moved all the heavy furniture from 24e to the Jepson Center. So excited that we got to incorporate ghost chairs! And 24e had the most amazing geometric ones that I absolutely am obsessed with. And thank you to the Jepson Center who let us use their cafe area for the shoot. It truly is an amazing venue and it is the perfect backdrop for a modern wedding. 

Loren Laney of Femme Fatale did the hair and Jessica Mock of Dollface by Jules did the makeup. They did an amazing job incorporating our funky theme into the hair + makeup!!! And props to them for also waking up super early on a Sunday morning. Thank you to our models who also got up early to be a part of the shoot! They were troopers, especially Rachel who had about 10 pounds of flowers in her hair. 

Another one of my favorite details from it was the awesome stationary by Miss Pickles Press. I have to admit... I have admired her work from day one of me getting into this industry. Her stuff is so funky, fun, and I just am kind of obsessed with her style. So believe me when I say it was so awesome to have her collaborate with us! Thank you Jen!!! :) Also, Madame Chrysantheum put together some really fun and really bright flower arrangements and bouquets! Her designs were awesome and really helped pull together our tablescape! 

All in all it was a lot of fun and the hard work really paid off!!! This shoot was exactly what we wanted, something different, something quirky, something fun, and something unique with lots of handmade details! And is it just me or does it kind of remind you of The Capitol from the Hunger Games???? Oh... and if you read the article on Ruffled you might get a little sneak peak of what's to come here regarding the rebranding... I should be revealing the new logo sometime this week!!! I have been crazy busy getting the last minute details ready for our March + April weddings. And... 2 more styled shoots back to back the first weekend in March. Am I crazy? Quite possibly. Am I excited? You have no idea, because both of these upcoming shoots are so completely entirely different than anything we have ever done and so I am excited to show a whole new style that I love!!
