THE BIG FAKE WEDDING

Last year we participated in The Not Wedding, and we did it again this year! Now called The Big Fake Wedding, it's bigger and better then ever! This years show was at Roundhouse Railroad Museum, one of the top wedding venues of Savannah! The ceremony took place in the Roundhouse, where they house the historic trains. Event though it rained, the ceremony was still gorgeous, with a heartfelt commitment ceremony and gorgeous ceremony backdrop. The reception/tunnel of love took place in the blacksmith shop, where we got to show off some of our gorgeous dresses! Wilbur was there to great brides, and he was a hit in the photo-booth! This years inspiration was smoke and mirrors, so a mix of dark grays and sparkle. The theme was perfect for the moody blacksmith shop, and the table designs were stunning. THOUGHTS TUESDAY: The Big Fake Wedding

Are you sick of wedding expos? They're all the same. You show up, walk around, get some info, then leave. They can get boring, but we have the perfect alternative! The Fake Wedding isn't just a bridal show; it's a real vow renewal with dinner and a reception! You are the guest, and you get to enjoy it! It's the best way to see vendors in action, plus there is a special Tunnel of Love where each vendor has a small booth so you can talk to them, and get more information on their services!

We did the Fake Wedding last year, and it was amazing! We are so excited to be the bridal gown vendor, so you will be seeing the bride in one of our outfits! (Plus a dress from Rent The Runway, another sponsor!)

This years event will be held March 5th at 7PM at the Roundhouse Railroad Museum, with the theme of Smoke + Mirrors. Think slate, silver and subtle sparkle, a perfect palate for the Roundhouse. SIMPLY WED: Brandy + Matthew

This colorful wedding was seriously so much fun to help plan and Brandy is quite possibly one of the sweetest brides. This New York couple wed last October at Whitefield Chapel with their reception following at Roundhouse Railroad Museum.  Jade and Matthew captured all the details of their wedding from their romantic photos out at Whitefield Chapel where their ceremony was officiated by Rev. Stephen Williams to their silly playful shots at the Roundhouse to the colorful bold florals and other fun details and decor rentals from Amazing Event Rentals, Ultrapom and lighting by Eddie Kimmer. Entertainment was provided by All About You and the food was done by Chef Nick Mueller and desserts by Rum Runners Bakery. Brandy looked beautiful on her wedding day in a pretty lace dress and I am obsessed with her bold lipcolor by JW Salon. Anyway, huge congratulations to the happy couple and thank you for choosing us to be a part of your big day!!

SIMPLY ENGAGED: Chelsea + Charles

How + Where You Met:
We met in Tallahassee where I was attending FSU. I was a member of a sorority and lived in the sorority house. Chaz was one of the kitchen boys and would be at the house every night. Over the span of 2 years at the house we slowly started to talk and officially started dating Jan 2nd 2012!

The Proposal: 

When we started dating a couple of years ago Chaz had given me a ring pop and joked around that I would have to keep it forever.... and I actually did!..  but on my birthday this past year (September 20th) I had just gotten home from work and Chaz walked through the front door with a birthday present for me. We sat down on the couch and as I opened the bag he had gotten me a wallet I had been wanting... I was pretty excited and he then told me there was some candy in the bag that I should eat. Being a huge fan of candy I opened a ring pop right away to find that the candy ring had been replaced with an engagement ring! When I looked up Chaz was on his knee and asked if I would make him the happiest man!

Why Savannah?
My mom and sister currently live in Savannah and after visiting a few times we fell in love with the city and would always escape downtown for a night whenever we got the chance.

Wedding Date:
April 10th 2015

What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
We are both most excited for the first sight of each other on the big day. Walking down the aisle and seeing each other will be a memory we will both hold on to forever!

SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {Bespoke Bride} Maureen + Nick

Eeeeeeek!!!! I always get SO excited when it's our first time being published on a blog we've never been published on before!! And that was no exception with Bespoke Bride!!! This blog is so adorable + features so many handmade, creative + alternative weddings that I just love it!!! Maureen and Nick's DIY handmade bird loving wedding was featured on the blog last Friday! This was one of my favorite weddings because every last detail was thought out so well and fit their theme perfectly. It was such a creative wedding that was personal and unique in every way. SIMPLY WED: Maureen + Nick

Finally got around to going through all the gorgeous images by Once Like a Spark of Maureen + Nick's wedding this past October at the Roundhouse Railroad Museum!!! I loved all the handmade details of their wedding from the paper pinwheel arch to the yarn wrapped bottles to the moss escort card display and the list goes on... This was really a fun wedding to help out with!!! The couple loves birds and so their theme took on a handmade DIY bird lover theme + was so adorable!!! The funky tree inspired cake was by Tier Luxury Cakes and B Matthews catered the event, which was delicious!! The couple had a lounge area outside of the blacksmith shop set up with vintage rentals from Ever Thine Vintage Rentals. Maureen's hair and makeup were done by Beyond Beautiful by Heather who did a lovely job as always and helped put in the headpiece by French Knot Studios, who also did the bouquets and boutonnieres!! The hardest workers at this event by a long shot were Beachview Event Rentals who put up the cafe lighting and even helped us put up the fabric on those tall rafters... that was ridiculously scary climbing up there so the guys with the company offered to help us out and thank goodness they did because I about had a heart attack trying to climb up the ladder when I put up the tissue poms!!! But it turned out beautifully in the end!! The couple, family + friends danced the night away to DJ Chris from All About You and the night ended with Maureen + Nick leaving in a luxury car from AE Luxury Limo. SIMPLY PUBLISHED: 100 Layer Cake

Hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving yesterday!!! I don't know about Adrienna (since she's up in Virginia) but I had a great time with friends and am more stuffed with delicious food than I can imagine!! Thank you to my friends, Krystal + Rob, who took me in on this holiday when I was unable to spend it with my family!!! SIMPLY PUBLISHED: The Knotty Bride

The Knotty Bride is by far the funniest of all the wedding blogs. I would highly suggest adding this to your reading list of blogs if you don't read it already. The author is hysterical and always writes the best most entertaining posts while featuring some awesome weddings and styled shoots.. oh and boudoir. This is by far the best place to check out ideas for boudoir sessions for your man. Anyway, today we are super excited to share with y'all that we got our first feature on The Knotty Bride!! Our handpainted Southwestern turkey feather backdrop was featured on The Knotty Bride on the 27th for Thanksgiving!!! Make sure you go on over and check out the rest of the shoot!! So excited that we were featured in Savannah Magazine and on Savannah Magazine's website!!!! For the shoot we contributed a large handpainted DIY backdrop for their food table! Adrienna + I were inspired by southwestern prints + wanted to do something crazy or funky. Good thing I had turkey feathers lying around the house... SIMPLY PUBLISHED: {Savannah Weddings Magazine} 2 Weddings, 2 Styled Shoots + an Ad!

Eek! I am so excited today to finally share on here the recent wedding features Simply Savannah Events had in the Savannah Weddings Magazine Fall 2013 Issue that came out a few weeks ago!! I still sometimes have to pinch myself to make sure this is real life. I can honestly say I never imagined this would be my life at age 24. It is seriously a dream come true seeing my name in a magazine. I feel so blessed and lucky for the opportunities in life that have been given to me and am so grateful for everyone who has helped me get to this point and for all the vendors who have been mentors to me and mostly to Layla who took me on as a little assistant and taught me more than I could have ever imagined. ALSO... so excited because October 23rd, 2013 is Simply Savannah Event's one-year birthday of when I officially took over everything! I cannot even believe it has only been a year. It feels like so much has changed and so much has happened that there is just no way all this stuff has happened in just a year. It's not real life I've decided but that's okay because I like it just the way it is.

So anyway, in this Savannah Weddings issue we had two styled shoots + 2 weddings featured plus my first print ad! 

The first small feature was a picture of the faux wedding couple but real couple in real life kissing in front of the ceremony backdrop from the Valentine's Day styled shoot at the Jepson Center we did with French Knot Studios, photographed by Izzy Hudgins that was also published on Ruffled. This shoot was so fun and filled with tons of bright bold colors + funky styles. Definitely one of my favorites!! 

The second small feature was from a styled shoot at Brockington Hall designed by me! This shoot was one of my favorites because I got to do something really dramatic and bold. Thrive made that all black wedding cake and I styled the flowers, and those gorgeous calligraphy invitations are by Laura Lavender. For more from this shoot go here! The first wedding feature was Arlette + Juan's, 'True Colors." Their wedding took place at Old Fort Jackson and was photographed by Izzy Hudgins. This couple was one of the first couples I worked with after purchasing the business... I can still remember meeting with Layla and them at Sam Sneads for the first time and being so nervous and excited! They are truly some of the sweetest people I have ever met. I think what I loved most about working with them was how it was not all business. Our meetings always took place over dinner, either Sam Snead's or Mellow Mushroom, and they loved talking about topics other than wedding plans... especially if it had to do with their beloved dog, Papo, who is just about the cutest ever. Their wedding was so special because you could just tell how focused on love, family, and friends they are. I also loved how the little flower girls got along and played together so perfectly even though they spoke different languages. *Full wedding feature coming this week with more details so check back soon!!! 

The second wedding feature was Courtney & Harry's, "Hollywood Ending." This wedding took place prior to me taking over Simply Savannah Events. Layla worked with the Hollywood couple to plan all the little details--> [check out Layla's new wedding blog here!] I loved all the amazing details in slate blue and shades of gray. Urban Poppy did the spectacular flowers and Rachel Browne photographed every last detail. This wedding began the start of my love affair with the Roundhouse Railroad Museum, which is by far one of the coolest most unique wedding venues in Savannah. I mean how many people can say they got married in a historic blacksmith shop at a railroad museum?!

And last but not least... I am so so so excited at how my advertisement came out! Thanks to the amazing Izzy Hudgins for the photo from Katy and Drew's wedding! Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures!
