It's a styling party where you and your girls come to the shop, and the styling experts at Ash and Light provide dresses and accessories, and help you find the best before-and-after looks for you. This event shows you how to give your bridesmaids gowns a second life! Gone are the days of boring gowns you wear once then give to goodwill. RENT THE RUNWAY: Bridesmaids Dresses

Today here to talk all about bridesmaids dresses. We do not currently carry any bridesmaids dresses... but that being said there is sort of a reason for that. Both of us love the look of mismatched bridesmaids more than anything. Give your girls a color swatch and let them find something not only that they love, fits them well but also something that they can afford and not have to save up for. So today I am here to share some of my favorite bridesmaids looks from Rent the Runway!! They can rent a dress that is fabulous, star-worthy and sassy.

1. First things first, "marsala" is 2015's Pantone Color of the Year. So why not dress your girls in the color of the year? Not the easiest of colors to match but any shades of maroon/scarlet/plum are a close match.

2. All black bridesmaids. This look is perfect for an evening wedding. Think lots of candlelight, a historic Savannah mansion (Brockington Hall anybody?), glamour, champagne, and fabulousness all around.

3. Little white dress. Okay, I know this one probably is not common at all but say your dress is blush pink. I personally think it would look badass to have your girls in white with you in a blush dress. Or maybe that's just my dream wedding dress look...!? Probably is... since I love anything non-traditional. Anyway, if you are not feeling the all white bridesmaids look that's fine, instead these dresses would also be perfect for the rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, or bridal showers!

4. Floral print. This one for Adrienna since she lives in floral print everything and anything. Perfect for the girly bride getting married in a romantic garden surrounded by blooms in all shades on a warm spring day. Sounds like heaven to me don't you think?

DESIGNER FEATURE: Kirribilla + a Pop-Up Shop

Wednesday we received a ginormous shipment of new dresses. See here on our Instagram. It was Christmas. All but one of those boxes was filled with short white wedding dresses and colorful short dresses from Kirribilla for our Pop-Up Shop. So many dresses that we actually ran out of hangers and were only able to hang the majority of them. These dresses are available for purchase off the floor and we will have them in stock now through July 26th! Anyway, we are so in love with these fun little short dresses from this designer so we just wanted to share more!!! And now for our reasons why we love Kirribilla:

1. We love reception dresses. They are fun, playful, and seriously so perfect for summer weddings in the south where it is hotter than hot. Kirribilla's "I Do" Collection of short little white dresses is absolutely perfect for a bride looking to change out of her gown after the ceremony when she is ready to really get down on the dance floor. SIMPLY BRIDESMAIDS: Friday Fancies Emerald Pantone Color of the Year

I looooooove emerald. It is such an elegant color. However, I haven't always loved it. If you had asked me while growing up if I liked emerald I would have shook my head full of bright red hair and said nuhhhhhhh uhhhhh nooooo wayyyyy not meeeee. Why? Because I hated being a ginger. I mean seriously hated it. I wanted so badly to have blonde hair. But noooo. I was a ginger kid... and even worse, I had freckles. Blechhhh. And ya know what everyone always said looked "soooooooo pretty" on me because it looked so nice with my hair? The color emerald. So I hated it. Well, I have grown out of that phase & now I absolutely am loving emerald. & hey, it really does look pretty great with my red hair, which really isn't even that red anyway. Emerald is all over the fashion world right now and I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the fact it is the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year. SIMPLY YOU: Let's Get Married in 2013!

So... you're engaged and you're getting married in 2013 eh? And you don't have a wedding planner yet? Are you pulling your hair out yet? If so... e-mail me here. Even if you are not pulling hair out, well still... e-mail me here. We want to be a part of your big day! And we will do our very best to make sure you do not pull your hair out ever. Because who wants to get married with hair chunks missing? I know I sure don't... So anyway, I have been spending the last 5 or so hours prepping some budget analyses for some clients, and doing some pinning for some decor inspiration, and contacting lots and lots of vendors, and the list goes on... I am guessing the majority of you brides out there don't have hours a day to do this stuff because you probably have a job and work and I am guessing it is not super easy to find time to contact vendors and get quotes and compare prices, etc.? Well, that's where we help out! We do all the hard nitty gritty work so that you can lay back, relax, enjoy your engagement while we do the research for you. What better way to plan a wedding than only focus on the fun stuff... (i.e. pinning hundreds of hundreds of pictures for your event designer to look through, choosing your flowers, having a bachelorette party and bridal shower, cake tastings, heck yes....!) Anyway, we would love to hear from you today! We have several package options and are always willing to customize our packages + prices to better fit your needs. And we do offer flower services for smaller weddings as well!!

Anyway, now to the pretty part of today's blog post... here are some wedding trends I am crushing over right now & am eagerly hoping to see at some of our 2013 weddings!!!

1. Sparkles, sparkles, more sparkles, sparkles on your bridesmaid's dresses?! Yes please. There is nothing I don't love about this look. And I am not going to lie, I would not mind being your bridesmaid if you let me rock one of these dresses... so friends out there who get engaged soon... take note.

2. Unique backdrops. I love photobooths but what I love even more are the makeshift photobooths with a tripod & a camera timer that have lovely fun backdrops in your color palette that we can and will gladly make for you using fabric, sequins, etc. Or how about a lovely backdrop for a dessert table? The possibilities are endless + Simply Savannah Events wants to make one or two or maybe even four of these for you because after the event I will probably be found decorating my entire house with them...

3. Who needs a tiara when you can have a sparkly fun tiara? I want one...

4. Lights = soft + romantic ambience. I think this is something that can really add gorgeous ambience to a wedding. Especially since most venues only have overhead lighting, which let's be real... is not the most romantic. I also think cafe lighting is gorgeous outside. Think... dancing under the stars but the stars are 347239852 miles closer. (Note: that is not a scientifically accurate number.)

5. This picture kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Glitter/sequins/sparkle + dessert tables. There is just something about glitter/sequins/sparkle that mesmerizes me. I love it. The more the better. And I don't think you can get anymore glittery than having a glitter tablecloth. Also, dessert tables. I love this too. Probably because I love sweets + desserts so much. But also because they are just so pretty. And I like pretty things. If I didn't love desserts so much then I would say it is painful to watch them get destroyed by people eating every last bite. But fortunately the sugar high makes it all better.

6. Glorified lounge areas at the reception that are cooler than my living room will ever be but only because my man insists on having a ceiling fan instead of a chandelier. But really, how neat are these lounge areas? Such a nice way to set up a reception space that will encourage guests to spend more time mingling and less time sitting at their seats eating next to people they have never met before.

7. This isn't a trend, just something I know I will see at all my weddings this year... and that is a whole lot of love. Forget the stress because you've hired me & that's what I do, I take care of the stressful stuff so that you don't have to. So, on your wedding day you better focus on your hot hunk of a man at your wedding... oh yeah and don't forget all your friends + family that flew miles and miles to see you get married to the love of your life. ;)

{Vendor Spotlight} David's Bridal

Choosing bridesmaids dresses is never an easy task. When you have different body types, everyone's own opinion, and of course budget; it can become a very difficult decision to make. Luckily David's Bridal has many choices for you and your bridesmaids. 3 wedding themed movies are coming out at 1 time!

It's definitely wedding season! Especially since THREE wedding themed movies are coming out at ONE time!! All have mixed reviews. Let me know what you thought of them???

Jumping the Broom is a 2011 American comedy film directed by Salim Akil and produced by Tracey E. Edmonds, Elizabeth Hunter, T.D. Jakes, Glendon Palmer, and Curtis Wallace. The film stars Angela Bassett (Notorious, Meet The Browns), Paula Patton (Precious, Deja Vu), Laz Alonso (Just Wright, Avatar), Mike Epps (The Hangover, Resident Evil: Extinction), Loretta Devine (Death at a Funeral, Grey’s Anatomy), Meagan Good (Stomp The Yard), Julie Bowen (Modern Family) and more!
The plot is about two families who live on opposite sides of the social circle and have to get together for a marriage in the town of Chilmarkon the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, where two members from both families will be wed.

The title of the film is derived from the African American tradition of bride and groom jumping over a ceremonial broom after being married. In some African-American communities, marrying couples will end their ceremony by jumping over a broomstick, either together or separately. This practice dates back at least to the 19th century and has enjoyed a 20th century revival largely due to the miniseries Roots.
This is a ceremony dating back to the 1600s and derived from Africa. Dating back to slave days, jumping the broom together has been part of weddings for couples who want to honor that tradition. It also has roots in the Celtic culture and including but not limited to Welsh, Celtics, Druids, and Gypsies and some aboriginal or shamanistic cultures.
