SAVANNAH LOVE Trunk Show with Faith Thornburg + Jaclyn Jordan {AND A GIVEAWAY w/MACKENSEY ALEXANDER}

We are so excited for our first trunk show next week with Faith Thornburg + Jaclyn Jordan, two SCAD alums. Make your appointment today to ensure you get a chance to come by + check it out!! Here is a sneak peek at some of Faith Thornburg's designs! That funky asymmetrical dress is being used in our styled shoot tomorrow with Rach Lea Photography! Should be lots of fun... and a lot of weirdness going on... + lots of animal details!! Anyway, Faith Thornburg is located in Atlanta, GA so she will actually be coming to our trunk show on Friday January 24th and Saturday January 25th! The designer also came out for our Grand Opening party!! She has been such an amazing designer to work with + so supportive of our new boutique!! Her dresses are all produced in the US and include many soft feminine romantic details mixed with some funky modern styles. We absolutely love all her gowns + are so excited to have the entire collection featured at our Savannah Love Trunk Show next week!!

Jaclyn Jordan is our newest designer we have added to our shop! We first fell in love with her bridal accessories at market but did not pick her up until after the New Year. She has been somewhat of a mentor to both Adrienna + myself during the opening of our store + we absolutely love her and all of her support for Ivory + Beau! Her accessories are absolutely beautiful!! My favorite pieces are her lacy veils, especially the one with the lace appliques shown below in the top left corner. She also has some beautiful blingy sashes and headpieces that I just adore!!! Cannot wait to see how brides mix and match her pieces with their dresses... going to be gorgeous!!! So many options + we are getting a custom blue veil from Jaclyn too to go with our Rebecca Schoneveld blue gown... can't wait to see it !!!!

Last but not least, we are super pumped to be collaborating with Mackensey Alexander on a giveaway during our Savannah Love Trunk Show!! We are giving away to our first 10 brides who purchase a gown with us a free styled engagement session by us with Mackensey photographing valid through the end of February 2014. We absolutely love floral design + event design/styling so we are really excited about this + hope you brides and grooms will love it too!!! What you get:

  • 90 minute engagement session
  • 50 edited images
  • 1 styled scene with handmade custom details + props customized to fit your love story
  • 1 bouquet
  • assistance helping photographer style all details
  • {VALUE} packages start at $440 for photography + $400 for styling + $150 for bouquet/florals = $990

Here are some examples of some freaking awesome styled engagement sessions that I love:

We hope you make it out to our Savannah Love Trunk Show! We will also be having some of our favorite treats from around Savannah... think pralines, sweet tea, honey... yummy....

SIMPLY BRIDAL: Golden New Years

Nothing is better then a New Years wedding. Not only is it a day of celebration (and my birthday!), but you get to ring in the new year with those closest to you. And what better gown to wear then one that sparkles! My favorite Sarah Seven gown we have is Golden Lights. It's covered in sequins, has the perfect sweet-heart top, and is perfect for an evening wedding, or even for the bride who wants to sparkle all day!

xoxo, A

SIMPLY BRIDAL: Something Blue Bridal Gown

Ladies. Get excited. We are soon to be the only bridal boutique in Savannah with a blue wedding dress. Yes you heard me correctly. Blue. Something blue. When we saw this gown at Bridal Market in New York, Adrienna + I just knew we had to have this blue one. When Adrienna placed the order with the designer, who shall remain unnamed until the big reveal, the designer was like are you suuuuure... it comes in ivory tooooooo. Obviously Adrienna said no way, show us the blue. Well, she probably said it in a nicer way I'm guessing? Adrienna is pretty nice. Just saying. But anyway, we ordered the blue and we could not be more excited for it. It's so pretty and soft and romantic and pretttttttty. And we just loved how non-traditional it was. Now, we don't have any of the something blue dresses as seen below, but trust me when you say our something blue dress is beautiful and we know you will love it!!! Anyway, what do you think? Loving the blue as much as us or what???

{NOW HIRING} 2 Internship Opportunities

Ivory + Beau has some exciting news!!! We are expanding quickly + it is time for us to add on some awesome new team members!! We are looking for not one but two interns to start immediately during this exciting adventure in opening up our wedding planning + bridal boutique!! Read below for info on who we want + the application process...

As Ivory + Beau expands previous wedding planning company, Simply Savannah Events, we are in need of two hard working and fun team members who are interested in a career in the bridal + wedding planning industry.

Internship Opportunity: Wedding Planning/Coordination Intern
This intern can expect to be in the boutique 2-3 days a week + will assist at all weddings! You will shadow me closely to learn the ins + outs of coordinating and planning weddings. This job is not as glamorous as it may seem but is so worth it!! We need someone who is an extremely hard worker, doesn't mind arts + crafts assembly lines, cleaning, setting up and styling centerpieces, floral prep work, e-mails, e-mails, more e-mails, phone calls, a few more phone calls, a lot more phone calls, researching venues and vendors in the area, organizing, filing, and more arts + crafts assembly lines.

You are perfect for this job if you are:
-not scared of working hard, lifting heavy stuff, sweating, getting dirty
-self-motivated. [i.e. There's some trash by the cake table. I better go pick that up before the reception starts. The centerpiece on one table has more bottles than the others. I better make this look better asap. The rental company is running behind gathering their rentals after the reception. I can come to the rescue and help them out!]
-a team player!!!!! You like to come up with ideas that help the company because the success of the company means the success of you as a person means the success of you working for the company and working for us longer!!
-creative. You can walk into a store + find something cool that can be used at a wedding. Any store. Not just a pretty decor store. But any store. Try it. It's fun.
-crafty! You are not afraid of hot glue guns, long hours assembly-lining it.
-organized and a fast typer. No but seriously. We work hard and fast. No long hours at the office for us. Get it done and get it done quick. And do it organized.

How to apply:
-Send us a resume + a cover letter addressed to Ava + Rene. E-mailed to simplysavannahevents@gmail.com
-Subject line in e-mail: Wedding Planning/Coordination Intern
-DEADLINE FOR APPLYING: October 31st, 2013.

How to apply + receive brownie points and an interview:
-Send us pics of a craft project you have done or made up that we have not seen all over Pinterest.
-Send us a mood board of what your dream wedding would look like. This does not have to be crazy complex, 4-7 pictures will do just fine.

About the Internship:
This is an unpaid internship that will last 2 months. At the end of 2 months, Adrienna and I will review your work and at that time we will decide if you are HIRED for a part-time position with us! And trust us, we really hope you are amazing and that we can hire you because we need you just as much as you need us! If you want college credit we can definitely work with you to get that sorted out as well!!!

See? Don't you want to work for us? We are fun. Real fun. We tell good jokes. Like really good jokes. Mostly about cats. And we adopt stray cats off the street + name them Roo. That happened. We also play with toy dinosaurs. But seriously. We want you to apply now. Let's be friends and make pretty crafts + get famous. Okay go.

SIMPLY ENGAGED: Brooke & David

Engaged:
July 8th, 2012

How & Where They Met:
We met in Macon, Georgia at Mercer Law School in Fall 2008.  We both attended the University of Georgia for undergrad, but David is two years older than I am so we never actually met in Athens.

The Proposal:
David and I were walking our dogs, Wayne and Ava, at High Falls, a National Park about 20 miles north of Macon.  We were back off of a trail near some rocks near the water letting the dogs swim and David proposed.  I was completely surprised.  When we got back to the car, our close friend (and my Maid of Honor), had left us a cooler with Champagne to celebrate!

Wedding Date:
March 30th, 2013

Why Savannah?
I have family that lives in Savannah and nearby in Glennville.  I also lived and worked in Savannah during the summer between my second year and third year of law school.  David and I hope to move to Savannah once we complete our clerkships next August.  Plus, it is a great place for our family and friends to visit because of Savannah's great downtown area and beautiful parks.

What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
Being cheesy is difficult for me because it makes me awkward.  But, David says he most looks forward to seeing me walk down the aisle.  I look forward to celebrating and enjoying the night with all of our close friends and family in one place!

Seriously how cute are they!?!? I love the pictures of them in the middle of the street. Just reminds me of The Notebook. Aww, swoon, soo romantic! They are such an adorable couple & I cannot wait to see how their wedding at The Mackey House turns out!! Am so excited to have another wedding there!! It is one of my top favorite venues in Savannah!! Congratulations to the happy couple!! :) And thanks for choosing Simply Savannah Events for your wedding planning needs!!

SIMPLY BRIDAL: Friday Fancies Monotone

For today's link-up with AV at Long Distance Loving, the theme is a Monotone outfit. I instantly knew I wanted my color to be a shade of pink, & I absolutely love this light rose pink shade. I think it is so soft & gorgeous. Also, I wanted to choose pink since this weekend Simply Savannah will have a booth at the Brides Against Breast Cancer bridal show in Savannah, Georgia! When I heard about this event I knew I wanted to get involved because it is something that has really affected me in my life. My mom, Sandy, lost her life to breast cancer at the age of 35 less than 6 months after I was born. It has been such a difficult thing to grow up not knowing my mom or anything about her. To wonder if I am anything like her or even if she would be proud of the person I have become today. It makes my heart hurt a little when I see brides so close with their moms on their wedding days & knowing I will never get that. So as you can see this is such a close-to-home cause that I want to be involved in & I really thought this would be such a great and fun way to contribute in a really meaningful way... So I hope all of you in Savannah will make it out to the Brides Against Breast Cancer event this weekend to see me! I will only be there a few hours Saturday since we have a wedding, but will be there all day on Sunday with some home baked cupcakes!!

Every handmade little cake is baked using the freshest ingredients. Saigon Cinnamon, Madagascar vanilla, farm fresh creamy butter, hand selected fruits and nuts, along with the smoothest cream cheese. Gigi learned to cook standing on a stool watching and measuring ingredients beside her mother and grandmother. Each cupcake is baked with loving care.
For years, Gigi’s friends have asked her and her mother what makes their sweets so delicious and the answer will always be the same...They are truly baked with love. That's what makes Gigi's Cupcakes so remarkable! Gigi's Cupcakes is committed to designing your cupcake event to your specifications. Their mission is to touch each person with that special kind of love and hoping you will live life to the fullest
one cupcake at a time!

Gigi’s Savannah

Bethany the owner of the Savannah location is just as sweet as all of her delicious cupcakes. She is a new resident of Savannah, but she and her husband have a rich family history in Savannah, they spent many wonderful summers at their family home on Wilmington Island enjoying the beautiful scenery and all that Savannah has to offer, dreaming that one day they would live here and finally their dream has come true!

Conde Nast Traveler April 2011 issue

‎"Savannah's Spring by the Sea...azaleas are in bloom, the weather is warming up, and the coastal cuisine is divine. Enjoy...picturesque cobblestone streets, where century-old live oaks shade magnificent homes, winsome gardens, and lush green squares. Explore galleries, fine antique shops, and more....explore" Nice write-up in Conde Nast Traveler April 2011 issue. After living here in Savannah, GA for about 4 years, I have to agree with Conde Nast Traveler, that Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. It's the perfect place to visit on vacation or have a destination wedding at, or if you live locally, plan your wedding here, like I did, and have everyone else come to visit for your wedding where you live, Savannah!
