So you're thinking lace for your wedding gown. Lots of lace. But
with so many types out there, how can you tell a difference between them? It can get confusing, especially when all you see is white lace everywhere. So here is my super easy guide to lace (with images of course!)
1) Alencon (ah-lon-SHON)
A french needlepoint lace, with a floral design. It tends to be
heavier lace, and is often used in veils and hairpieces because of its strength.
2) Battenberg
This heavy lace is typically made from linen, with clean,
scalloped edges.
3) Chantilly
This is the most popular for wedding gowns. It's lightweight and
made of silk thread on a mesh background. It and often has floral or ribbon
designs.
4) Swiss Dot
This is one of my personal favorites, and features circular dots on a sheer fabric, typically chiffon.
5) Venetian
A heavy lace, often in large floral motifs. It is often used as appliqués on gowns.
6) Eyelet
Typically made of cotton, and features holes, or
"eyelets" to create a pattern.
