SIMPLY PIN: First Look

To have a first look or not? The original tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony comes from the days of arranged marriages because it was considered that seeing the bride made her un-pure. However, it was also considered bad if the bride saw herself before the ceremony because it was thought she would leave a part of herself behind.

The non-traditional "first look" is a relatively new thing for the bride and groom today to consider. I think it can be very special to have those few moments of alone time before the wedding. Once the ceremony begins you and your groom will have very moments just the two of you because you will be surrounded by family and friends. I am not saying that is a bad thing, but it may also be very special to sit with each other, look at how amazing one another looks, and just soak up all the emotions and wedding day jitters. And some bride & grooms will write letters to each other and take the moment to read them, which I think is a super special thing to do. Also, instead of sharing the first look with all your wedding guests, it will be a moment for just the two of you to share. Another thing to consider is this allows time for pictures before the ceremony so after the ceremony it is party time!

Now for those who are very traditional but love the emotion and special moments involved in a first look, why not consider a first look with your dad? I personally love this idea because I am extremely close to my dad and even though he lives in Oregon and I in Savannah we talk multiple times a week. This also allows him a special moment to see his baby girl all grown up. I am very excited because my dad and stepmom arrive in Savannah tomorrow! :)

Anyway, what are your opinions? Are you a traditional kind of girl or do you just love the idea of having a first look?

Oh, How Pinteresting #4

SIMPLY ENGAGED: Kristen & Mike

When I saw their engagement photos I was just thinking how cute are they!?
I love how they got to take some in a few different locations!
So excited to see how their wedding turns out!
They'll be getting married at Forsyth Park with a reception at Vic's on the River!
Here is a little bit about them!

Engaged:
Saturday July 16th, 2011

How & Where They Met:
"Mike is the same age as my big brother Steve. They were always on baseball teams and in school together. We hung out in High school but didn't start dating until we were both in college and ran into each other the summer of 2007."

The Proposal:
We went to a little cute beach town near ours called ocean grove to look at an open house and go to a festival. The town is so adorable with beautiful old Victorian architecture and great colors on the homes. We checked out the house, walked through town, ate some lunch, walked on the boardwalk, and sat down on a bench. He got quiet and then popped the question! I was surprised as the whole day he didn't seem nervous at all until the words were coming out of his mouth. He even had asked my dad before meeting me in town!

Wedding Date:
March 24th, 2013

Why Savannah?
We wanted somewhere special, beautiful, and something a little different. We wanted to do destination because we want to spend a few days with our favorite people rather than a few hours!

What Are You Most Looking Forward To On Your Wedding Day?
Mike says, "shrimp and grits! haha and enjoying a day with family while marrying the one I love"  I say,  "marrying my best friend and officially starting the next Nunes family."

I know they are going to have a gorgeous wedding! So stay posted! And thanks Kristen & Mike for sharing with us! :)
