SIMPLY PIN: Are you at a Hipster wedding??

As an owner of a wedding planning business I have realized I play so many roles. I am in no way just a wedding planner. Although yes, that is the bulk of the work... it is not what I spend everyday doing. This week I have found myself doing a whole plethora of random things. Changing an old mirror into a chalkboard for a seating chart at a wedding, doing research on event design (i.e. pinning lots + lots on Pinterest--follow me here!), cutting out lots and lots of geometric shapes for a styled shoot coming up, picking out furniture for same styled shoot from a designer furniture store, taking tours of the neatest venues you have ever seen, etc. etc. So it's so much more than calling a caterer and putting together contracts. But at the end of the day I think one of the funnest part of my job is the event design aspect. I love coming up with new and creative ways to style a wedding. And Pinterest is probably one of my favorite tools. So here is what I've been pinning this week...

SIMPLY PIN: Champagne Bars & Whiskey

Today's Oh How Pinteresting link-up is all about champagne bars & whiskey. I love the idea of using your bar to add some personality to your wedding. I think there are a lot of fun ways to incorporate the bar into your wedding decor, design, theme, etc. If you and your fiance's favorite alcohol is vodka, then why not have a fun vodka mixing station where guests can make their own drinks? Or if you prefer champagne, have a champagne bar with fresh fruit they can add to their drink? There are so many ways you can get creative with your bar and make it part of the design of your event. Signature drinks are a really cute way to personalize your event as well. I absolutely love the idea of having a "His" and "Hers" drink too! So many options for customizing your bar at your wedding... what are your favorite ideas!?

SIMPLY PIN: Dessert Tables

I am a sucker for an amazing dessert/cake table. I also am a sucker for sweets and anything chocolate. And so at a wedding there is not much I love more than a gorgeously styled dessert table. Here are some of my favorites:

SIMPLY PIN: First Look

To have a first look or not? The original tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony comes from the days of arranged marriages because it was considered that seeing the bride made her un-pure. However, it was also considered bad if the bride saw herself before the ceremony because it was thought she would leave a part of herself behind.

The non-traditional "first look" is a relatively new thing for the bride and groom today to consider. I think it can be very special to have those few moments of alone time before the wedding. Once the ceremony begins you and your groom will have very moments just the two of you because you will be surrounded by family and friends. I am not saying that is a bad thing, but it may also be very special to sit with each other, look at how amazing one another looks, and just soak up all the emotions and wedding day jitters. And some bride & grooms will write letters to each other and take the moment to read them, which I think is a super special thing to do. Also, instead of sharing the first look with all your wedding guests, it will be a moment for just the two of you to share. Another thing to consider is this allows time for pictures before the ceremony so after the ceremony it is party time!

Now for those who are very traditional but love the emotion and special moments involved in a first look, why not consider a first look with your dad? I personally love this idea because I am extremely close to my dad and even though he lives in Oregon and I in Savannah we talk multiple times a week. This also allows him a special moment to see his baby girl all grown up. I am very excited because my dad and stepmom arrive in Savannah tomorrow! :)
