DIY SUNDAY: Wooden Color Block Centerpieces

We love doing DIY projects for our photo shoots. Not only are they fun to do, but they are great inspiration for our brides. One of our shoots from last summer was featured on Love and Lavender, and featured one of our DIY Projects! We wanted to create a floral centerpiece that was different then just using vases, and was more geometric. So we took wooden blocks, stain, paint and duck tape and created geometric and striped settings for our floral displays. This project is super easy, and doesn't take long at all! What you will need: Wooden blocks, wood stain, acrylic paint and duck tape

1. Get wooden blocks. We did this by going to Home Depot and having them cut scrap wood into random shapes. Make sure to sand the edges.

2. Stain to desired color. We picked a gray to make the neon colors pop

3. Use duck tape and acrylic paint to make stripes and shapes on the wood

4. Stack them together, and add flowers!

STYLED SHOOT: Horses + Donuts

Last summer we did an amazing shoot with Two Chics Photography at Rum Creek Farms, and we are so excited to finally share! This shoot was published in January on Love & Lavender, one of our favorite blogs! Rum Creek Farms contacting us, asking for us to set up a shoot at their farm, since they now have weddings. We were inspired by the gorgeous grounds, but wanted to do something different then a typical farm wedding. So we added pops of hot pink, periwinkle, and stripes, for a vibrant color palate! We had a trunk show with Jillian Fellers, and knew these gowns would be perfect! We chose Aster with a tulle overlay for the bride, and Luna + Sweetbriar for bridesmaids. Each gown has a touch of color, and ultra soft fabrics. We love the idea of the bride in blue, and the bridesmaids in soft neutrals, so the bride can still stand out! 

For this shoot we did a lot; flowers, DIY centerpieces and ceremony backdrop, and styling. We wanted the flowers to be bright and cheerful, so we used cabbage, roses and spray painted scabiosa pods. For the ceremony backdrop, we took chicken wire and cut out shapes, and wrapped the shapes in different colored yarn. It was super easy to make, and we loved how it turned out! We will have a DIY up soon of our wood block centerpieces, so stay tuned for how to make those!

SIMPLY PUBLISHED: Donuts + Horses

Eeek! Our Donuts + Horses shoot by Two Chics is up on Love & Lavender! This shoot was so much fun to design, with it's pops of hot pink, periwinkle and stripes. We wanted to create a ceremony backdrop different then any we have ever seen, so we used chicken wire and wove shapes into it! The best part of the shoot? The cat's that live on Rum Creek Farm! They were kind enough to join in on the shoot! The gorgeous gowns are by Jillian Fellers, and flowers by us! Check out more images up on Love & Lavender today!
