SIMPLY INSPIRATION: Lemons & Oranges and A Business Announcement

Flowers are not cheap. I just ordered all the flowers for the styled shoot we have scheduled for this weekend... I cannot explain in words how excited/anxious/nervous I am! Anyway, back to the flowers... not cheap. Not one bit. But lemons & oranges are cheap. And colorful. See where I am going with this? I am not going to lie... this idea was inspired by some of the Instagram pictures I saw today from Engage 12. I am so envious of all the wedding industry professionals that got to attend! I will go next year! 

On a somewhat related note... I have a business announcement to make. Simply Savannah Events is going to be getting completely re-branded. I know I have changed it a lot so far and you may be wondering why I keep changing it basically on the monthly... well, the truth is I attempted to design a logo and look that I love but was unable to achieve what I really wanted. So, I have made the decision to work with a professional and get branded! I am super excited to get the process started and after looking at lots of companies I have chosen to work with Molly Jacques (seriously check out her work---incredible). We will be getting started on everything in February but I wanted to get you guys excited because this is a huge step in my career & the branding of the company! Enough of my blabbing... now time for some fruit & wedding inspiration!

{Sneak Peak} SIMPLY WED: Melissa & Antonio

Last weekend's wedding was a really great wedding! I was so excited to finally have my first stationary project and was actually the designer of the escort cards and the ceremony programs! I loved putting them together and coming up with designs for the couple using the bride's Pinterest board for inspiration! The ceremony took place at Whitefield Square in downtown Savannah and the reception was at the Richmond Hill City Center. It was such a lovely wedding with one of my favorite color combinations, navy and orange. The decor was really cute with burlap table runners, lace overlays, and vintage candlestick holders. The amazing florals were done by Layla Mayville, previous owner and she did an absolutely amazing job! I cannot wait to see the professional photography by Alexis Sweet, the same photographer from the Bohemian photo shoot I modeled for! I think my favorite moment of their wedding was their last song! It was seriously adorable... the couple danced in the center of everyone holding hands. In the middle of the song Antonio held up Melissa and they danced in a circle. I am not going to lie, it was so cute I was definitely holding back a few happy tears. It was such a special moment and I feel so lucky to have gotten a chance to witness it. I would love to have a last dance like theirs. You could feel the love for the couple in the room and it was just... too precious for me to ever be able to describe fully. {Bright Idea Thursday} Non-Flower Centerpieces

I recently did some research online searching for ideas on non-flower centerpieces to help a client and figured I'd share what I found! Sometimes you don't have enough money in your budget for spending a lot on flower arrangements or maybe you are not a huge fan of fresh cut flowers. Whatever the reason, you may like some of these ideas. 

Buy gift card sets and frame them to put around the tables with candles, this etsy artist does beautiful drawings of historic Savannah locations. Or buy a variety of Savannah postcards and frame them. Instead of fresh flowers use Potpourri in shallow vases, it will smell really nice too. Or combine minimal flowers cut really short that can live for awhile without water and place in vases with fruit. Another way of using minimal flowers is the example with the wine bottles and recycled glass containers, which uses inexpensive flowers sparingly. Going along with the wine theme, maybe you save your wine corks and don't know what to do with them-why not use them as decorative details for your wedding. You could also buy potted plants that are in season or create herb centerpieces to place on each table. Candles can be bought in bulk and look so pretty on their own like the example of the DIY lace candles or just wine glasses with floating candles. If you are feeling crafty and want to include photos for your centerpieces, consider trying to make the DIY photo frames with votives. Your napkins can help with adding a design element to the tables and place settings too. Well, I hope I gave you some inspiration!
